A Russian strike damaged the Visti Barvinkivshchyny office in central Barvinkove (Kharkiv oblast) overnight on 5 August, the newspaper reported.
According to the team, a series of explosions went off right next to the building where they have worked for over 20 years. The shock wave blasted out several windows and doors, damaged the walls and ceiling, destroyed some furniture, and left the premises littered with glass shards. Documents and other things stored in the office were scattered about.
The team said that this was the second time their office had been affected in Russian strikes. The newsroom has previously been damaged in a strike in 2022. The team restored it and continued releasing the newspaper.
The administrative building housing the newspaper’s office sustained significant damage, too. In a neighbouring apartment block, some the windows were blown out and some balconies were damaged; a shop was affected as well.
Despite the damage sustained, the team said that they would continue with their work. The outlet reported that they had managed to preserve both the team and the equipment, so the newspaper would stay in circulation.
