ZIK filming crew attacked in Lviv

14.01.2016, 19:01

On January 13 in Lviv, unidentified people blocked the filming crew of the program "Ohliad Dnia" ("Daily Review") of the ZIK TV channel at an illegal construction site at 47 Kulish street. This news was published on ZIK website.

According to the participant of the event, reporter Yevhen Miklushka, the filming crew was supposed to check the construction site that was officially ruled illegal. The construction works were supposed to be ceased there, and the journalists wanted to see if the works indeed stopped. As they started recording, several men approached them (some of them were drunk), who rudely refused to introduce themselves, and started to demand to turn off their camera. The men threatened the journalists and pushed them into the territory of the construction site, blocking the exit. The journalists had to call police, as the unidentified site "guards" did not allow them out. When police arrived to the site, the men did not want to let them in. Yet one of them, the one who was closing the gate, fled as police arrived. Another one said he used to work at the site as a security guard, yet he retired. When asked why he locked the journalist inside, he said that he was not sure they were journalists as he did not see their IDs.
