ZIK complains about obstructions to filming crew in the Ministry of Youth

30.11.2017, 20:16
On November 29, the filming crew of TV channel ZIK was obstructed in finishing the recording of the meeting of special commission in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, where they elected the chief coach of freestyle wrestling team of Ukraine. This was reported by ZIK. “Initially, we obtained consent for the video recording. For three hours, we were filming the sesison of the commission. Then we left and waited for the decision of the commission, as we were warned from the very start that when they are deciding, it may not be recorded, and journalists must leave”, Anna Ostapenko, ZIK journalist, explained. After this, according to the journalist, a representative of press service of the ministry appeared, who in a rude form stated that the filming crew had no right to film as the channel allegedly never warned and requested about it in advance. As a result, the journalists were not able to get comment from Vice Minister Ihor Hotsul on why it was decided not to re-elect the coach as planned. As the channel commented, the press service representative forbid the journalist of the channel to enter the assembly hall where the commission was meeting. The representative of the press service also refused to comment on the record why the video recording was forbidden, and also refused to tell her name to the filming crew. TV channel ZIK sent an information request related to this incident to the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.
