ZIK claims its broadcasts went dead for eight hours due to attack against the channel

TV channel ZIK stated that it suffered an attack which was committed at night on the eve of November 17 - unidentified people set on fire their communication cables, and this cause problems with the channel broadcasts. This was reported at the ZIK website. As the channel pointed out, as a result of the attack, the work of the channel was stalled for eight hours – from 01:00 A.M. to 09:00 A.M. “[There were] spam attacks during the time of live broadcasts, and cable breaches at Peremohy boulevard, causing the threat of our broadcasting signal failure, but the situation we had today, when the signal was stopped altogether – this was for the first time, of course”, commented the technical director of the ZIK TV channel, Viktor Koziy. The technical services worked fast, and the channel was able to broadcast in the morning. ZIK administration commented that the channel experienced several such attacks before. “We experience dozens of attacks, we experience many cases of damage to telephone cables, we experience hundreds of cases of technical influence on our broadcasts, but the channel is prepared to fight. If this continues, we will be addressing the law enforcement agencies”, said the general producer of ZIK, Natalia Vlashchenko. She also emphasized that any political pressure is not acceptable for the channel, and the policy of the channel is absolutely independent.
