The employees of ZIK TV channel were forbidden to cover the street protest rally on 2 of July in the Maydan square in Kyiv. But, notwithstanding the ban the executive editor Ihor Krymov broadcasted the rally from Hromadske TV, as he told it to Hromadske.ua. In the center of Kyiv, there was a protest action against registration of candidates for the snap parliamentary election of two odious candidates: Andriy Kluyev, head of the presidential administration at the time of Viktor Yanukovych, and Anatoliy Shariy, video blogger. As Ihor Krymov told, chief editor of ZIK Darya Hordiyko forbade to air  the story in live program, because the news would be “of no interest”. “What are the consequences, I will got to know it after the program, I guess. Therefore, Daryna came running to the control box and forbade to air it. But we had some minutes of freedom”, Krymov told. But, notwithstanding the ban Krymov aired the protest action, which was aired by Hromadske TV. Afterwards, Krymov told he was suspended from the live program and since July 3rd, he has been replaced by another executive editor. Hromadske called to Daryna Hordiyko asking to comment on the incident, but she asked to call her back next day. IMI informed that on June 14 it had been known that ZIK TV channel was acquired by an ally of an oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk, Taras Kozak who is also owner of “NewsOne” and “112 Ukraina” TV channels. Immediately after this news became public, a number of top managers and journalists resigned from ZIK.
