Zelensky holds a closed meeting with journalists, explains Zaluzhny's dismissal
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a closed meeting with journalists to explain his decision to dismiss the UAF Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhny, reported the Ukrainian Pravda journalist Mykhailo Tkach on the UP talk show on February 8.
As Tkach explained, since the meeting was closed, he cannot disclose Zelensky's arguments regarding the dismissal of Zaluzhny.
"The key topic, of course, was the Commander-in-chief replacement. The President explained his rationale behind this pivotal event. We also went over some urgent topics, I asked about the surveillance of our colleagues from Bihus.Info. It was important for me to ask some key questions and get answers. And to understand or try to understand what is happening overall. Because, as we can see, my colleagues and I are taking this situation much more seriously than, say, the law enforcers," said Tkach.
According to him, both international politics and internal affairs were discussed at the meeting.
On February 8, Zelensky dismissed Zaluzhny and appointed Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrsky as the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
