President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has called the announced TV link-up of Ukraine's NewsOne TV channel and Russian state-owned channel Russia 24 a cheap but dangerous PR stunt ahead of the parliamentary elections, as Ukrinform reported.
He stated this in a video message published on the page of the Presidential Office on Facebook.
"The announced TV link-up is a cheap but dangerous PR stunt before the elections, the goal of which is to divide all Ukrainians into two camps again," Zelensky stressed.
The president called on Ukrainians to stay calm and unprovoked, and promised "appropriate reaction" to preserve peace, order and information security of Ukraine.
As Ukrinform reported, Ukraine's television channel NewsOne, which belongs to Taras Kozak, an ally of Viktor Medvedchuk, and Russian state-owned channel Russia 24, are to hold a TV link-up entitled "Need to Talk." TV host Dmitry Kiselyov announced this during the Vesti Nedeli (News of the Week) program.
