The Volyn Oblast National Police HQ hotline (102) received no statements on obstruction of reporting or death threats to media workers in 2025, as stated in the police’s response to a query by the Institute of Mass Information representative in Volyn oblast, Maya Holub.

The police said that no criminal law proceedings on obstruction of reporting or threats to journalists were added in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations during this period. Accordingly, no such cases were submitted to court or closed.

As reported earlier, the Volyn police received no statements on obstruction of reporting or death threats in 2024.

On 7 May 2024, the Lutsk District Prosecutors opened a probe into “Attempted criminal offence” and “Obstruction of legal reporting” over the phishing emails sent to the Investigative Journalism Center “Syla Pravdy”.

However, the case was closed three months later, as the police found no confirmation that the media outlet had faced obstruction.
