Unknown hackers create a fake Telegram channel of Ukraine's Defense Minister

Someone created a Telegram channel posing as the Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov for the purpose of harvesting Ukrainian users' data through it.

Rustem Umerov does not have a Telegram profile, the Ministry of Defense press office stresses.

"We kindly ask you not to provide any information at the request of the individuals who run this account and to report it," the message reads.

As the IMI reported, in June, several media outlets shared a fake comment by the head of the Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, about the July 19 explosions on at the Starokrymsky training ground in Crimea. Andriy Yusov, a representative of the State Administration of Ukraine, then said that the account that posted the message did not belong to Budanov. Budanov has an official Telegram channel, which is available here.
