Unidentified people were not allowing journalists for press conference in Odesa oblast council

04.03.2016, 16:53

On March 4 in Odesa, unidentified people wearing camouflage uniforms were giving various excuses not to allow a number of journalists to participate in the joint press conference of the chairman of Odesa oblast council Anatoliy Urbanskyi and the director of the oblast archive Volodymyr Levchuk. This is the report of thw information agency “Vikna-Odesa”, whose correspondent was not allowed to attend the press conference.

The oblast council’s security guards were allowing to enter everyone, who came to attend the event, yet near the door of the room where the meeting was supposed to take place, there were unidentified men and a woman who refused to introduce themselves and called themselves "volunteers". The woman demanded to show papers again, and would not let allow to enter some of the journalists, in particular those who presented the certificate of the National Association of Journalists of Ukraine. This woman later was overseeing Anatoliy Urbanskyi’s conference.

Some journalists had to leave the site of the event without attending it. When the oblast council’s chairman was asked why some unknown people decide which journalists are good enough to visit the conference, he answered "This is the spirit of the time".
