Ukrinform under DDoS attack

15.03.2014, 23:50

The secretary of the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy instructed the specialized Ministries and agencies to take urgent measures to protect state and other domestic informational resources that were subject to massive DDoS attacks, including the Ukrainian national informational agency — Ukrinform.

In the last days, the communication channels of the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine are under massive DDoS attacks, probably, to hinder its response to challenges the country is currently facing. Similar DDoS attacks were unleashed on servers of the national information agency of Ukraine «Ukrinform», with which the Apparatus of the Council of National Security and Defense of Ukraine cooperates in the issues of informing the public about the events in Ukraine and securing transmission of the corresponding information abroad.

The Ukrainian security service accused the Russian army in creating interference for mobile connection. Smaller-scale attacks on news websites and social networks happened earlier, as well as their materials were being distorted with propaganda.

Cyber attacks were often employed in 2008 during the armed conflict between Russia and Georgia.
