"Ukrainski Novyny" contests in court refusal of Presidential Administration and Parliament Staff to show officials’ tax statements
The informational agency “Ukrainski Novyny” contests in court refusal of the Presidential Administration and the Parliament Staff of Ukraine to show copies of high officials’ tax statements. It requested that the Presidential Administration show tax statements of the current acting president Oleksander Turchynov and the chief officials of the Presidential Administration. As these officials are currently still MPs, the Presidential Administration transferred this request to the Parliament Staff, which refused to show these documents claiming the acting president’s tax statement can be found on his page on the Parliament’s website, and statements of other officials cannot be made public without their consent.
The “Ukrainski Novyny” also requested that the Presidential Administration showed the tax statements of the public servants – presidential advisers, and the Presidential Administration rejected this request; it claimed that these officials hold the positions that are not on the full disclosure list so they can be published only on officials’ personal consent.
