Ukrainska Pravda: Poroshenko attorneys do not want Onishchenko's allegations to be published

12.12.2016, 15:19

British lawyer company Atkins Thomson warned "Ukrainska Pravda" from publishing accusations of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko by MP of Ukraine from the party "Peoples' will" Oleksandr Onishchenko.  "Ukrainska Pravda" reports it referring to the company's response to request  from the media on the statement of British journalist Maxim Tucker, who earlier said that he also received such threats.

The company confirmed that they wrote a letter to the British newspaper "The Times" on Tucker's intention to publish an article about Onishchenko's charges.

In the letter attorneys said that they represent "Block Petro Poroshenko", its leadership and the Ukrainian government. They added that they have an order to take all measures to prevent the publication of these allegations, which they consider false.
The letter also stated that the company will submit lawsuits to any publication in Europe and in the world in case of any republication of, according to lawyers, calumny accusations.

"Ukrainska Pravda" states that thee didn't publish the letter and direct quotes from it in this news, because the letter contained a warning and demands confidentiality.

December 8, Max Tucker said on his Twitter that he and several other journalists received a letter from the President Petro Poroshenko lawyers threatening legal action for spreading allegations of Oleksandr Onishchenko for bribing MPs in the interests of the President.

In comments to "Ukrainska Pravda" Tucker said that he did not stop preparing an article for The Times, but added that will publish it only if he proves the truth of Onishchenko's statements.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Administration of Ukraine announced that the Atkins Thomson company protects the interests of Ukraine in the defamatory campaign against the leadership of Ukraine, reports UKRINFORM.
