"Ukrainian Radio" broadcasting limited in regions due to funding cuts
Since September 9, the National Radio Company of Ukraine is broadcasting its programs with a considerably reduced coverage of the Ukrainian territory. It was done due to reduction of the state budget funds allocated for broadcasting of the Ukrainian radio. Coverage reduction includes considerable cuts to the broadcasting time (breaks in broadcasting during the day) and ceasing to broadcast in the regions. The state-owned company did not warn the government about this measure, so the officials of the Ministry Information Policy and of the Cabinet of Ministers learned about it only when it was actually implemented. In the crucial time close to local elections, and considering the general situation in the country, propaganda and war, officials of the Ministry of Information Policy called this measure "catastrophic". The National Council of Ukraine of TV and Radio Broadcasting and the Ministry of Information Policy requested the Ministry of Financing to take steps for restoring the radio broadcasts.
