Longtime "Ukrainian Pravda" photographer Dmytro Larin now serves in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, reports the media outlet's chief editor Sevgil Musaieva, adding that he had enlisted in May.
She noted that Larin has photographed politicians, soldiers, activists, covered many events.
"You must have seen his works at least once in your life. Especially if you are a regular reader of the UP. Dmytro mostly worked on the battlefield for the last two years. And in May, he volunteered to enlist in the Defense Forces," Musaieva wrote.
She added that she always respected honesty.
"He will say what he thinks, even if the truth may be unpleasant. And this decision of his also about honesty and staying true to himself," the chief editor said.
As reported by the IMI, the UP's 2024 article "Kramatorsk: the city of dating, death, and milkshakes. What the life of Ukraine's romance capital is like under S300 shelling", co-authored by Dmytro Larin, won the "Honor of the Profession" award in the nomination "Best Reporting".
