28.01.2019, 18:09
Several independent mass media outlets in Ukraine has launched a common project #Election without lie (Vybory bez brekhni) to check the veracity of the statements issued by the candidates for the Presidency, as to Radio Free Europe. This project is a common initiative of Hromandske, Ukrayinska Pravda, VoxCheck, Novoe Vrema, Kyiv Post and radio Free Europe. The results are to be made public once a week and cover ten politicians who, according to sociological polls, take top positions at the ratings. “Every year, manipulations of the politicians become more and more sophisticated. But the fact-checking skills of the journalists community are progressing as well. We are happy to join our efforts with other independent mass media for this project and to work verifying the statements made by the candidates for the Presidency”, Taras Ilkiv, head of online-platform of Radio Free Europe told. The project #Election without lie could allow the elector to understand who among the candidates is saying the things which don’t correspond to the reality and who is fiddling with the facts. The independent mass media could take part in this project as participants or to republish the materials. To remind, the Presidential election is to be held on the 31st of March 2019. The pre-election campaign has started on the 31st of December 2018.
