Ukraine suffered over 75% of total cases of virus Petya infestation
The majority of cases – 75.2% – of computer infestation with the encrypting virus Petya took place in Ukraine. This is the data of the company ESET, which develops antivirus software, “Ukrainska Pravda” reports.
According to the company, 75.2% of total infestations with the virus occurred in Ukraine. In Germany – 9%, in Poland – 5.8%. Only 0.8% – in Russia.
For the context, on June 27 there was an attack of the virus Petya. It hit the networks of Ukrainian banks and large companies. The virus encrypts all files on the infested computers and displays the message with a demand to transfer to the indicated wallet the equivalent of $300 in bitcoins.
The virus Petya affected over 1.5 thousand legal entities and individuals in Ukraine.
On June 29, the Secretary of the National Council of Security and Defense Oleksander Turchynov during the session of the National Cyber-Security Coordination Center made a statement that the virus attack is a part of the hybrid war that Russia has been waging against Ukraine.
