File a complaint

Two politicians sue Independent media council

07.02.2019, 19:43
The politicians Andriy Lesyk and Yevhen Chervonenko who are frequently interviewed on the air programs of the TV channel NewsOne, filed a complaint against the members of the Independent media council which had found some elements of the language of hate and Russian propaganda in their words. Today, February 7th, at its sitting while examining the results of an off-schedule verification of the NewsOne, the National council on TV and radio broadcasting informed that Lesyk and Chervonenko brought a libel action to the court, as to Detektor media. The National council received the respective letters from Evhen Chervonenko and Andriy Lesyk who asked to postpone the debates on the issue of verification of the NewsOne until the judge’s decision is not rendered. Ulyana Feshchuk, deputy head of the National council, told the National council was ready to take part in this trial on the side of the defendant (Nataliya Ligachova, head of the Independent media council, Ihor Rozkladay, secretary of the IMC and the Center for democracy and rule of law within the lawsuit filed by Andriy Lesyk). The IMI reported earlier, the Independent media council concluded December 10th 2018 that a number of programs aired by the NewsOne on August-October 2018 contained the language of hate and some statements justifying the state-aggressor and breached the journalistic standards.
