TV channel "Inter" claims it is under political pressure

31.03.2015, 19:25

The TV channel "Inter" claims the authorities are trying to exert political pressure on it and that the Prosecutor General’s Office is subjecting it to inspections, reports BBC.

The TV channel believes that the MPs want to intimidate into silence those media outlets that speak about corruption in the government. These MPs are mostly from the pro-ruling party ‘Narodny Front’.

As IMI reported earlier, on March 30, the Narodny Front MPs requested that the Prosecutor General’s Office interrogated the Opposition Bloc MP Serhiy Liovochkyn and Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash in regard of their sale of the shares in the TV channel ‘Inter’ as well as Russia’s possible involvement in providing funds to the buyers with the purpose of expanding its media influence over Ukraine.

The Prosecutor General’s Office intends to interrogate everybody involved in the unlawful sale of the TV channel "Inter".
