TV and radio company "Vizyt" stopped broadcasting as protest against pressure of authorities
On October 15, in Kremenchuk (Poltavska oblast) the private TV and radio company "Vizyt" stopped broadcasting in protest against the authorities’ pressure; the journalists demand conducting an independent editorial policy. They wrote an open letter about this and published it on the channel’s Facebook page.
“We are forced to declare boycott against the pressure of governmental structures. We demand stopping the pressure against the channel. We demand an independent editorial policy – independent of owners, enforcers and oligarchs!”, the declaration reads. According to the journalists, they cannot perform their duties as the city administration refuses to cooperate with the channel’s journalists, do not invite them for any events, also, the attack against their journalist Oksana Tsokur (who was trying to investigate the alleged murder of the mayor of Kremenchuk, Oleh Babayev) was never properly investigated. The pressure, according to the journalists, continued for quite a long time.
