There was an attempt to hack Lutsk-based journalist’s email account

Unidentified persons tired to hack the Gmail account of the journalist and editor of the website  “Volyninfo” (Lutsk, Volynska oblast) Mariana Metelska. The journalist herself reported this to the IMI representative in Volynska oblast.

Metelska believes this hack attempt is connected to her journalist activities.

According to the journalist, on June 13 around 6 p.m. she received a text message that somebody typed her  password to her Gmail account. Weirdly, the attempt to log in was made from France.

“Gmail is not easy to hack. Most journalists in the world use it. I always believed it was safe. Even if they did not actually log in they somehow had my password”, Mariana Metelska commented on the situation.

She added that her passwords are strong and she had no idea how those unidentified were even able to learn her email account password.

After she received the text message she changed her Gmail password and turned on the two-factor authentication.
