Tax service officer sues newspaper "Litsa" which wrote about how rich he is
On August 11, a preliminary session of the district Dnipropetrovsk court took place on the claim to protect honor, dignity and business reputation of the vice-head of the Chief Administration of the State Fiscal Service Andriy Zvonkov against the newspaper "Litsa" ("Faces") (published by NGO “Lustration Anti-Corruption council of Dnieper Basin”), journalist Iryna Satarova and civil activist Olha Tyshchenko.
The claimant demands to refute some of the information published in article "A Rich Tax Officer" on May 15, 2015 about him and his family members in the newspaper. The article describes the wealth possessed by Zvonkov and his wife Iryna. According to the article, the Zvonkov family has several apartments and expensive cars, land plots and a business, and over one million hryvnias of savings in the bank. At that, the official salary of the tax service officer is about 90 thousand hryvnias per year. All data was taken from tax declarations as of 2014-2014. Still, Zvonkov thinks that the information in the article is invalid and false, and demands compensation for damages to his business reputation.
