The team of MykVisti received an official reply from the state-owned corporation Ukrainian Defense Industries (Ukroboronprom) saying that they were holding no competitons for company director positions during martial law. Yet, the company announced a competition for the CEO postition for the Mykolaiv-based Zorya–Mashproekt.
MykVisti journalist Alisa Melik-Adamyan reported this to the Institute of Mass Information representative in Mykolaiv oblast.
The journalist had sent an information query to Ukroboronprom in early September, asking whether the corporation was holding a competition for the CEO position at Zorya–Mashproekt, which is based in Mykolaiv city.
“We received a reply from Ukroboronprom clearly stating that no competitions were being held during martial law and there were none taking place for Zorya–Mashproekt, either,” said Alisa Melik-Adamyan.
However, the news outlet later learned that an announcement about a competition for the position of a defense company CEO had been posted on one of the Ukrainian job search sites.
“Looking for a highly qualified and responsible CEO… If you have an impeccable reputation, considerable management experience and strive for growth and success, we invite you to take part in the competition,” the announcement reads.
The requirements for the candidate include at least five years of management experience in industry, specialized higher education, preferably fluency in English at B2 level or higher. CVs were accepted until 12 September.
“The announcement did not say that the competition for Zorya, which we were asking about in the information query. However, an applicant for the competition told us that the announcement was about this enterprise specifically. That is, the state-owned corporation Ukroboronprom officially provided untrue information,” the journalist said.
CVs were accepted until 12 September. It had initially been planned that the competition would take place on 18 September, but it was postponed to today, 25 September, a source told MykVisti.
