State Enterprise “Volynvuhillia” ("Volyn Coal") refused to provide information on director general's salary

The State Enterprise “Volynvuhillia” denied the editor-in-chief of the online media outlet “Novovolynsk Dilovyi” Andriy Soroka information about the salary of the enterprise’ director Mykhailo Harbuziuk, «Novovolynsk Dilovyi» informs. In response to his request, they say that salaries of employees of "Volynvuhillia" are not financed from the state budget.

   According to IMI law expert Maksym Ratushnyi, in case this is true, the denial is not against the law. However, in this case an advisable procedure would be to sue the enterprise in court giving arguments on importance of this information for the public. The request itself was made because there is a suspicion that the director still receives his salary while staying on "sick leave" for an extended period of time - the previous director used this scheme staying on "sick leave" for 13 months.
