The director-general of Odesa State TV and Radio Company Maryna Aksionova took a decision, without discussing it with anynoby, to disband the team of the social and political programs «Novy Den». The team believes that this decision is nothing short of censorship and pressure onfreedom of press and an outright violation of the collective agreement. They published an open letter about this.
Aksionova explained her decision by the program's lack of originality.
The team believes that Aksionova's decision was caused by the program addressing burning issues like the issue of separatist moods in the region after which the journalist that raised this topic was banned from air.
