Son-in-law of Party of Regions MP attacked journalist in Zakarpattya
On April 4, 2013, in Chornoholova village of Velykobereznianskyi district of the Zakarpattya region, Vasyl Kozak, the son-in-law of Party of Regions MP Vasyl Kovach, attacked journalist of Stary Zamok newspaper Larysa Romaniuk when she was performing her professional duties, Zakarpattya Onlone reported.
Romaniuk was covering a village community protest against the construction of small hydropower plants on the local rivers of Bistrica and Lyutyanka. According to the journalist, Kozak did not like that she was taking photos.
"He began to say to me," What are you doing? Stop shooting me! I will not allow this. Give me the camera” He very quickly, dramatically jumped out of the car. And he tried through the people to break through to me. Then he came up closely to me, grabbed the camera and my clothing, and began to pull it over, saying: "Give me the camera," - said Romaniuk.
However, the villagers, seeing what was happening, were indignant and began to press the young man from all sides. Then he jumped out of the crowd, and left.
Village head Serhiy Pylnyk confirmed that the man was the representative of investor.
Larysa Romaniuk turned to police with an application about hampering her professional activities.
