Soldier, journalist Victor Petrov killed in action
On May 29, Lviv-based journalist, activist and soldier, Victor Petrov, was killed in action in the east of Ukraine. This was reported by Sykhiv Media on Facebook.
As Sykhiv Media told IMI, Victor Petrov was their first editor who had headed the publication from 2016 to 2019.
"Victor Petrov, the first editor of Sykhiv Media, died fighting for Ukraine. He was born in Sykhiv, studied at the Oriyana Lyceum; he was a good man, never turned down a request for help, was a volunteer and a member of several public organizations," the media outlet writes.
Victor Petrov served in the ranks of the Hetman Ivan Mazepa separate mechanized brigade No. 54, in the east of the country.
The public organization "Social Initiatives Institute" (SII), who had Victor Petrov on the team, also reported on his death.
"We sadly inform you that our dear friend, Victor Petrov, sacrificed his life for our freedom. Victor was a member of the SII team, an activist, a conscious citizen. He was the founder of the WHAT IF Creative Studio and the What If Creative School. He initiated many projects, contributing greatly to the development of our country," the organization noted.
According to IMI, Victor Petrov is the 61st media worker to die as a result of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
