"Servant of the People" proposed to change procedure for appointing members of National Council

New procedure for appointment and dismissal of members of the National council of Ukraine for television and radio broadcasting has been proposed by the MPs from "Servant of the People", as Hromadske reported. The relevant bill on improving the procedure for dismissal and appointment of members of the National Council # 2036 was registered at the Parliament on September 3. Also, on September 3, MPs from the “Servant of the People” registered the bill # 2035 , which proposes some amendments to ensure transparency of property of providers of the program service of multichannel digital terrestrial national-wide networks. Yevgeniya Kravchuk, MP from "People's servant", said : “The current legislation provides for a two-month absence of members of the National Council who are appointed under a quota of the Verkhovna Rada, while the selection and appointment process is ongoing. We consider this inadmissible and we want to ensure continuous work of the regulator ”, as Yevgenya Kravchuk noted on her Facebook page. “Servant of the People” considers there is currently no law on "the transparency of a monopolist who ensures the broadcasting of all broadcasters." According to the bill on ensuring transparency of ownership of national TV channels, the founders of the channels plan to put forward requirements that will guarantee the impossibility other countries’ influence the Ukraine media landscape.
