Segodnya daily robbery may be connected with journalist investigations
During the Christmas holidays, unknown people robbed the Donetsk office of Segodnya daily newspaper, according to the web site of the Interior Ministry’s Donetsk Regional Department.
On January 8, 2013, when the editorial staff returned to work after the holidays, they noticed that two laptops, a photo-camera, and some other property disappeared.
The journalists contacted the Kalininsky district police department of Donetsk, which sent an investigative team to the scene. The police opened criminal proceedings on Part 3 Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "robbery, with a penetration into a residence, other premises, or shelter." The case is under investigation.
At the same time, deputy editor Tetyana Dubova told 62.ua local online-edition that there was plenty of other equipment, but the thieves took only two laptops, a camera, and a dictaphone. “There were laptops in other rooms as well, but nobody touched them. Moreover, the offenders defiantly pulled the cord from the wi-fi». Segodnya journalists assume that the robbery could have occurred through a series of journalist investigations.
