Security Service of Ukraine removed Russia Today journalist for his activities against Ukraine’s state security
The Secuirty Service of Ukraine removed from Ukraine a British national, the Russia Today TV channel journalist Graham Phillips, as his activities went against the interests of Ukraine’s state security, its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and constitutional order. This decision had sound legal grounds and aimed to prevent damage to Ukraine’s state security. This was the official answer from the Secuirty Service of Ukraine to IMI’s request as to the removal from Ukraine of the British national Graham Phillips.
Phillips was detained by Ukrainian military in the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone on July 23 to establish his identity and the purpose of his presence in the combat zone. The Security Service of Ukraine had established facts that Phillips was engaging in activities that threatened Ukraine’s state security, so based on the Ukrainian legislation he was deported to Poland, from which he arrived to Ukraine.
Earlier, on May 20 Phillips was already detained by the Security Service of Ukraine in the ATO zone as he went to the forbidden areas and was making photos of Ukrainian military objects. Later he was released.
