Security Service of Ukraine detained Russia Today journalist for attempt to destabilize situation in Zakarpatska oblast
Due to attempts to destabilize the situation in Zakarpatska oblast, the Security Service of Ukraine detained the journalist of the Russian TV channel Russia Today Alina Eprimian and ordered her to leave the territory of Ukraine before August 4. She was detained in the village of Rakoshyno, when she was filming one of rallies.
There, local residents had been blocking the roads for a week as they were disturbed by the gossip about compulsory military draft, which have been insistnently proliferated by somebody. Already at the public hearing the Russian journalist kept asking the locals why they would not block the road again, which raised suspicion.
The Security Service of Ukraine detained the journalist for three hours to clarify the circumstances. She turned out to be a Russia Today correspondent and a citizen of the U.S. but to Ukraine she came under the Russian citizenship, as she has both. It is not her first trip to Ukraine – earlier she published in social networks a photo of herself on the background of Kramatorsk city sign colored in the colors of the Russian flag. Currently she is not detained as she promised to leave the country till August 4 and removed her footage.
