14.10.2014, 12:48

The Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine together with the border patrol detained ‘M’, a citizen of Ukraine, who was recruited by the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) and who proliferated anti-Ukrainian materials in social networks. This was reported on the website of the Security Service of Ukraine.

The detained man, 25 y.o. Luhansk-native, was trying to cross over to the territory of the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea to receive a new task from officers of the Russian intelligence service.

«M» was recruited by FSB earlier this year, in March, when he visited Crimea. When he returned to the mainland Ukraine, under command from his FSB handler he was disseminating through social networks anti-Ukrainian materials and false information to discredit the government of Ukraine and compromise the course of the Anti-Terrorist Operation.

Besides, he created an online community, through which he was promoting formation of the so-called «Novorossia» and called for support of the terrorist activities in the East of Ukraine.

The criminal was detained at the checkpoint in a bus going from Luhansk to Yalta. According to him, he was going to meet his handler to receive new tasks as to destabilizing the situation in Ukraine. He is now under a criminal investigation for treason.
