SBU to check NewsOne and the 112th as to eventual threats to national security

The president Petro Poroshenko has commissioned the Security service of Ukraine to verify the reports saying the TV channels NewsOne and the 112th represented threats to national security of Ukraine, as the president said answering to the question when he planned to consider the petition signed to support NewsOne and the 112th on April 16th. This petition was signed by 25 thousands of persons, as to Interfax-Ukraine. “The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a resolution on threats to the national security from the both TV channels. Before considering this issue, I commissioned the law enforcement body which is responsible for national security in Ukraine, SBU, to proceed immediately with verification of such reports issued by the supreme political authorities, Verkhovna rada of Ukraine”, Poroshenko said. He emphasized that as soon the verification would be completed, the bothe TV channels will be informed of its results. “In case if this report is to be confirmed, this issue will be put in the agenda of the National security and defense council”, Poroshenko said. IMI informed on October 4th, 2018 the Verkhovna Rada adopted a resolution suggesting to impose sanctions against the TV channels 112 and NewsOne due to “anti-Ukrainian activity” of these TV channels. The National security and defense council commissioned the Security service of Ukraine (SSU) to complete the verification of activity of TV channels 112th and NewsOne, as to the NSDC decision #82/2019 dated of March 19. 2019, as it is said on the NSDC web-site.
