SBU searching for journalist missing in Donetsk

The Security Service of Ukraine is searching for the Donetsk-based Ukrainian journalist and essayist Stanislav Aseyev, who went missing on June 2. Aseyev was contributing to Ukrainian media outlets under the pen-name Stanislav Vasin. SBU informed about the Hromadske Radio.

“We are aware of the situation... We are searching for him and we, more or less, know where to search for him. For now this is all we can disclose”, was the actual quote from SBU officers.

As IMI has reported earlier, Stanislav Vasin, who was captured by the “DPR” militants, is in fact journalist, essayist and writer Stas  Aseyev, and Vasin is his pen-name.

On June 6 the former MO Yehor Firsov on his Facebook page informed that journalist Stanislav Vasin went missing in the occupied Donetsk.

Stanislav Vasin contributed to the Radio Liberty project “Donbas. Realii”, “Ukrainskyi Tyzhden”, “Ukrainska Pravda”, “Dzerkalo Tyzhnia ”.

Radio Liberty lost contact with Vasin on June 2. Stanislav last contacted his mother in the lunchtime on June 2.

On June 8, police launched an investigation of the disappearance of journalist Stanislav Vasin.
