SBU officers, working with police officers, informed the suspects in the case on the facts of "counteraction to protest actions of November 2013 – February 2014” for a monthly fee of 6-12 thousand hryvnias  – in particular, the suspect of murder of "Vesti" journalist Vyacheslav Veremiy.

The journalist was beaten by a group of thugs hired by the then authorities to do dirty work, so-called "titushki", and shot by one of the murderers, allegedly Dzhalal Aliyev. On October 15, 2014, the murder of Vermiy was re-identified by the court as "act of hooliganism committed by a group". The court session was closed, no press was allowed on request of the Prosecutor's office.
