SBU charges two Odesa journalists of preparing crime and encroaching on Ukraine’s integrity

15.06.2015, 18:16

The editor of the online media outlet «Naspravdi» Artem Buzila  and the editor of the TV channel «Bessarabia-TV» Olena Hlishchynska (Odesa) are suspected of preparing a crime and encroaching on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and are currently detained and under investigation. This was stated in the official response of the Department of the Security Service of Ukraine in Odeska oblast to Telekrytyka’s information request.

As IMI reported earlier, on April 29, SBU officers detained Naspravdi’s editor-in-chief Artem Buzila, organizer of the so-called People’s Council of Bessarabia, in the course of cracking down separatist associations in Odeska oblast. By the decision of the court he was placed in detention.

Along with Buzila, SBU officers detained Olena Hlishchynska, the editor of the TV channel «Bessarabia-TV», whose owner, MP Vitaly Barvinenko, in the spring of 2014 proclaimed himself a people’s commissar of Bessarabia. SBU officers searched Olena’s apartment and charged her with encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity. She is being kept in detention since. SBU offered her a deal to plead guilty and get a probation time of two years, but she declined the offer.
