SBU and NATO signed agreement on cyber security

On July 4 in Kyiv, NATO and SBU signed an agreement “On implementation of NATO Trust Fund Ukraine – Cyber Defense”, Ukrinform reports.

The interests of the Ukrainian party are represented by SBU, and the Alliance assigned Romania to be the leading country for NATO.

The agreement provides for developing in Ukraine a network of situation centers for responding to computer-related incidents and an extended network of automated event sensors, integrated into the informational networks of critical informational infrastructure entities.

As of June 1, equipment  and software for Ukraine for the first stage of the Trust Fund is located in Ukraine based in the Security Service of Ukraine, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the State Special Communications Department (DerzhSpetsZvyazok). It is being integrated into the general infrastructure of the national cyber-security system in accordance with the project.

Also, the decision was approved about further direction of developing the national cyber-security system taking into account the Trust Fund's capabilities, namely: improvement of technical capabilities of Ukraine in the sphere of cyber-security by means of equipping it with automated event sensors and connecting to the national network of situation centers of the State Special Communications Department and SBU; establishing the cyber-security centers in the system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Police, with their further integration into the national network of situation centers.

The Agreement was signed by Vice Secretary
General of NATO Sorin Ducaru and head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Hrytsak, as well as deputy director of the Romanian Intelligence Service Cristian Bizadea.
