Russian TV operator, who brought to Ukraine live televising equipment illegally, got detained

26.06.2014, 21:53

An operator of a Russian TV channel, who was going to Donetsk, tried to illegally bring to Ukraine through the Kyiv airport (Zhuliany) the equipment for live televising. The device «LiveU LU-40» for wireless transmission of video signal via satellite was found by the Ukrainian customs officers in a suitcase of a Russian national, who came to Ukraine by a flight from the Russian airport Vnukovo. The young man went through the green corridor and was stopped for selective control.

This passenger had an ID of a camera operator of a Russian TV channel and the editorial assignment for a trip to Donetsk. The Russian customs declaration stated that this device is worth 565 thousand Russian rubles (about USD 17,000) and thus it was significantly more expensive than the Ukrainian limit for the cost of personal items that can go across the customs border undeclared. This is an administrative offence. The equipment was seized till the court hearing.
