Russian Telegram channels share fake UNITED24 Media video featuring a non-existent deputy minister

04.03.2025, 15:19

Russian Telegram channels are spreading a video falsely attributed to UNITED24 Media in which Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defense, Dmytro Marushchak, thanks European partners for a 1.6 billion pound military aid package, but emphasizes that it is not enough, the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at the National Security and Defense Council reports on Telegram.

The CCD stresses that UNITED24 Media did not create the video and that none of the deputy Defense Ministers are named Dmytro Marushchak.

“Such fakes aim to discredit government structures and paint Ukrainians as 'ungrateful' for the support and assistance provided by Western partners,” the CCD added.

UNITED24 is a fundraising platform created at the initiative of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, which is a “single window” for donations from charity organizations, international partners and persons to support Ukraine. The platform fundraises for aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces; humanitarian, medical and child assistance; infrastructure restoration; digital and information resistance to armed aggression.
