Russian journalist Pavel Kanygin arrested by "DPR" militants

17.06.2015, 01:47

On June 16, the special correspondent of the Russian newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" Pavel Kanygin was detained and beaten by militants of the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic". They accused him in cooperation with Ukrainian journalists and absence of accreditation with "DPR". The reason for such accusation was a business card of the Ukrainian journalist Matsuga found on Kanygin. Also, Kanygin was accused of using drugs. In the end, the Russian journalist was driven to Russia, to Rostov oblast, and "dropped in the field." He has already been picked up and is on his way to Moscow.
