Russian drones damage a TV tower in Lozova

31.10.2024, 15:07

The Russian troops damaged a TV tower in the Lozova district of Kharkiv oblast with drones on October 30, causing glitches in national broadcasting, reports Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration chair Oleh Synehubov on the national telethon.

The Russian army was shelling Kharkiv oblast with guided aerial bombs and Shaded drones throughout the night and morning.

"There was a Shahed strike on the Lozova district at night, which resulted in the damage of the TV tower and temporary limitations in our national television broadcasting. Restoration work has already begun," Synehubov said.

He added that Kharkiv oblast is still under constant fire and that the October 30 strikes affected multiple districts of the oblast, including the city.

The IMI recorded cases of Russian troops targeting TV towers back at the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022 (back then, 16 cases of the Russians shelling TV towers, which are civilian objects, were recorded). The Russians resumed the shelling of Ukrainian TV and radio infrastructure in 2024.

In March 2024, the Russian troops deliberately struck TV infrastructure in Kharkiv oblast with drones. They also carried out missile and air strikes on the radio facilities in the Sumy oblast, leaving some municipalities without TV or radio signal. Later, Suspilne reported that due to the strikes their T2 TV channels and radio channels were temporarily unavailable in both oblasts.

The Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration chair Oleh Syneguhov said that the Russians deliberately mass targeted the television and radio infrastructure of Kharkiv Oblast with drones on the night of March 14.
