Russian blogger Ilia Varlamov was denied entry to Ukraine

On May 23, a Russian blogger and photographer Ilia Varlamov, known for his photo reports from Maidan events in Kyiv, was denied entry to Ukraine: he was stopped at the customs control at Zhylyany Airport. According to him, the reason of the denial was the unconfirmed goal of his trip to Ukraine. He is waiting for a flight back to Russia.

Currently, Ukrainian border patrol officers more often deny Russian journalists entry to Ukraine as they fail to confirm the goal of their trip or provide false information about their stay in the country.
