The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador and informed him that the country decided to close down the Russian Center for Culture and Science in Bucharest.

Ukrinform reports this, citing the Romania Journal.

"At the request of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, the Russian Ambassador in Bucharest, Valeriy Kuzmin, was summoned on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was informed of the Romanian government's decision to close down the Russian Center for Culture and Science in Romania," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The state body added that the Russian ambassador was reminded of the multiple instances when the Center deliberately played a part in distorting reality and historical truth aimed at influencing the public opinion in Romania.

"Through these actions, the Center irrevocably strayed from its natural objective of strengthening cultural bonds and, unfortunately, turned into a tool of propaganda, disinformation and whitewashing of the war crimes committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine," the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

As IMI reported, Russian propagandists are spreading fake news about Bukovyna's accession into Romania.
