Rivne region resident who has been leaking information to the russians via messengers faces 13 years in prison for treason
Rivne region resident has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for high treason. The man had been leaking information about strategic sites in his region to russia via messengers.
This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office.
"A man professing pro-russian views and acting on ideological grounds has been collecting and transmitting via messengers information about strategic objects of Rivne region to the aggressor state since October 2021 upon assignment from a representative of russian law enforcement authorities. The data concerned the introduction of a high security mode, the layout of checkpoints, additional protective structures, and critical facilities of the UAF unit stationed in Dubna region," the statement reads.
The convict also monitored and transmitted information on the movement of military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Rivne to Kyiv, railway trains with military equipment and representatives of military formations that are part of the Armed Forces involved in protecting and defending the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
In court, the Rivne resident pleaded guilty.
