22.12.2016, 15:01

Journalist Ivan Voronin was detained by Moscow police amid a rally on Tuesday, December 20, Radio Liberty informs.

The journalist and seven more people were apprehended while they were walking along Myasnitskaya street, next to FSB building in Moscow.

According to Voronin, police didn't explain why he had been detained, but officers asked him and others to write explanations on how they've got in a prison truck. Police checked everyone on having criminal records and released without any charges. Journalist stressed that before they were brought at the Krasnoselske police station, they had been given quite a long ride in a police vehicle.

Radio Liberty journalist considers these actions as attempts to stop the planned rally. "It was blatantly unlawful", Voronin said.

The 20th of December is a commemorative day, the Security Service worker's Day, in Russia, also called as "Chekist's Day".
