Public broadcaster ready to host debates of Zelensky and Poroshenko

04.04.2019, 14:41
The National public television and radio company of Ukraine (NPTU) has started negotiations on debates between the candidates for the presidency Volodymyr Zelensky and Petro Poroshenko, as Zurab Alasania, chairman of the supervisory board of the NPTU quoted by Alasania told the Public broadcaster was ready to hold debates. “Can Public broadcaster arrange the debates? This is not even a question, naturally we can. We have consent of both candidates, and for now, that is up to the Central Election Commission to agree it and to disburse funds for it from the state budget, in conformity to the law. We start negotiating it with all the parties,” he told. Earlier, the press service of the NPTU informed this was technically feasible to hold broadcasting of the debates from the Olympic National Sports Stadium in Kiev, but at presents, it seems to be a show, not debates.
