Prosecutor General's Office admitted that during January and February 56 employees of media outlets were victims of attacks

The Institute of Mass Information submitted a request to the Prosecutor General's Office in regard of the number of journalists who were officially registered by police as victims of attacks. According to its official answer to the request, during January and February of 2014 fifty six employees of media outlets, of which 34 were journalists, were victims of attacks. Based on the Prosecutor General's Office data, during this period criminal proceedings were opened in 19 cases under Article 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Obstruction to lawful journalist activities", of which 5 cases have been already closed, and on the rest prejudicial inquiries are in progress.
