Oleksiy Yurchenko, Priamy TV channel's cameraman who served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was killed on September 8 in a battle for the liberation of Balaklia city (Kharkiv oblast). Priamy reports this, citing the man's wife Tetyana Yurchenko.

"During the offensive on Balaklia, the channel's videographer Oleksiy Yurchenko was killed. He had joined the channel last year and had immediately become an integral part of it," the channel's story reads.

Oleksiy joined the UAF after February 24. He already had combat experience from 2015–2016: battles for Maryinka and Pisky.

In August 2022, he received his officer epaulettes. Commanded a platoon of grenade launchers.

Oleksiy is survived by his 13-year-old daughter Dasha.

The TV channel's management and staff express their condolences to Oleksiy's family.

According to IMI, Oleksiy Yurchenko became the 38th media worker to die as a result of russian aggression in Ukraine. Eight of those died in the course of their journalistic work, and 30 died as combatants or as a result of russian shelling, not while performing their journalistic duties.
