President signed law that unblocks reform of communal broadcasting in Ukraine

President Petro Poroshenko signed the Law of Ukraine «On amendment of the Law of Ukraine «On Communal Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine» concerning the procedure of incorporation of the State Enterprise «Ukrainian Studio of TV films «Ukrtelefilm». This information was released by the President’s official online office. 

The document eliminates impediment for creation of the National Communal TV and Radio Company of Ukraine.

In 2005, Ukraine undertook a commitment to the European Council to transform state TV and radio companies into communal ones, as per the relevant European standards. The reform was started in April of 2014, yet there is still a number of administrative problems that call for amendments in legislation
