Poltava mayor and his substitute got into traffic accident and attacked journalist
On August 13, the mayor of Poltava Oleksander Mamay and his first substitute Viacheslav Stetsenko attacked Liudmyla Voloshyna, the journalist of the online media outlet "Iskra prostykh liudei" and assistant to the MP Serhiy Kaplin, who arrived to the accident’s site near the village of Rozsoshentsi.
The accident involved three cars, and, according to the road police, the mayor’s car was not the one that caused the accident. The mayor and his substitute attacked the journalist, when she was making photos, broke her glasses, twisted her arms, and tried to take away her photo camera. They ignored her saying that she was a journalist. The passers-by did nothing, and only her colleague from Poltava Hromadske TV interfered by pulling her literally from the attackers’ hands. Her arms were bruised, and her camera was damaged.
The city mayor was swearing at the filming crew and journalists and was threatening them.
The complaint about the attack has been filed with the local police, and the investigation has been launched.
